PA Chautauqua 125th
The Mt. Gretna Campmeeting and the Pennsylvania Chautauqua will each be 125 years old in 2017.
A 125th committee, under the umbrella of the Mount Gretna Area Historical Society, has been formed and activities have been planned to celebrate their anniversaries. The mission:
To strengthen community relations and to collaborate with other Mt. Gretna organizations on activities
relating to the celebration of the Campmeeting and Chautauqua's 125th anniversaries.

The Committee’s first project was to produce a calendar, “Images of the Past” from historic postcards owned by the Society. Only a few of these collectible calendars remain.  Click here for an order form.

The first event, held in January, was a Treats and Trivia event held in the Mt. Gretna Fire Hall. 90 participants tested their knowledge of Mount Gretna and events around the world that happened in 1892.

The second event occurred in April at the Mt. Gretna Roller Rink. Almost 200 skaters and observers attended to hear Lois Herr, dressed as her great-grandmother Rebecca Hassler, speak about her part in the founding of the building as a farmer's exhibition hall and to show off their skating moves. A good time was had by all.
